Islands are also referred to as the Republic of Maldives, which has a
group of atolls and islands that stretch to nearly 700 kilometers. It is
a sunny, unique archipelago comprising 1,190 coral islands scattered in
groups of 26 naturally occurring atolls, which are further divided for
administrative purposes. Male is the capital of the Island as well as
the commercial and political hub of the Maldives.
